Echo’s Story
Echo is a Sheepadoodle from Montana with a big personality, an even bigger heart, and the very important title of Chief Sniffing Officer for Sit.Stay.Roll.
Before Echo joined our family, we knew we wanted him to have a military-inspired name in honor of Rick’s 30 years of service in the United States Air Force. Our family narrowed the choices down to Echo and Zulu—both from the military phonetic alphabet—and put it to a family vote. Echo won, and now we couldn’t imagine him being called anything else.
Echo came home when he was a little over eight weeks old. Rick had never owned a dog before, so Melisa let him choose from the remaining puppies. Echo made the trip down from Montana and arrived around midnight. Like most puppies, he made sure nobody got much sleep that first night, but it didn’t take long for him to become an irreplaceable part of the family.
We knew from the beginning that Echo would be trained as Melisa’s service dog. He helps her manage anxiety and PTSD, provides comfort during overwhelming moments, and makes it easier for her to move through everyday life with greater confidence. He has become exactly the loving and steady companion she needed.
Echo is also the perfect first dog for Rick and has developed a funny little-brother relationship with their son. He isn’t simply a pet—he is part of everything the family does.
He loves hiking, playing ball, road trips, hotel stays, attending BJJ events, and going just about anywhere his people go. Whether he is working beside Melisa, supervising a Sit.Stay.Roll. project, joining a family adventure, or sleeping through the ride home, Echo approaches life with loyalty, humor, and plenty of personality.
Echo is blind in one eye, but he has never allowed that to keep him from living fully. He continues to hike, play, explore, work, and bring joy to the people around him.

What Is an Echo Approved Life?
An Echo Approved Life is about making room for the things that bring more joy, adventure, comfort, and connection into everyday life. It isn’t about having everything perfectly figured out. It’s about showing up as you are, trying new things, laughing when life gets messy, and bringing your favorite people—and dog—along for the ride.
For our family, that includes hiking, running, BJJ, road trips, building businesses, sharing honest stories, and creating products that help dogs and their people experience more of life together. If it makes life more meaningful, more enjoyable, or a little easier to navigate, we consider it Echo Approved.
